How do you avoid mistakes when planting? What care do roses need, and what pruning? This theory-and-practice course, organised by the farm of Castello Quistini, shares the secrets of roses in the castle garden. [DA CONFERMARE: varietà di rose]
Among the best-known varieties of the day are the English roses of David Austin, a revolution that often suits a Mediterranean climate.
The course is held every year so that roses grow and flower well in spring. Theory in a room with a projector is followed by practice in the garden. Participants then choose a potted rose to take home, pruning and cleaning it themselves.
Marco Mazza, owner of Castello Quistini and of the farm, is a nurseryman specialising in roses.
